But… cake is always a good idea.
*Marie—we can call her that, right?—is reported to have said “Qu'ils mangent de la brioche” in response to being told her French subjects had no bread to eat. A sign she didn’t understand the plight of the poor—and a sentiment we enjoy far less than being served cake. Sacre bleu!
